Without looking in my reloading manuals and checking my state regs for legal handgun loads I would think you could produce a legal load.
And with the proper sabot you could certainly use them in a muzzleloader. |
Where I live (Nebraska) the state reg's are fairly simple, a handgun must deliver at least 400 foot-pounds of energy at 50 yards and a muzzleloader must be a minimum of .44 caliber.

200grn JHP’s in 44mag should be baking out around 1800fps… they may open a little more than some folks might want, but lay off the shoulder and let them work on the heart and lungs and death will come on swift wings.
