It's the first rifle released in their lineup so collectors are eager to pay for one, and the fact that most dealers are having a hard time obtaining one. Most are the Rugers but not all. You can easily tell the Rugers with the slightly extended barrel for the threads/cap.
While I think the Rugers are probably better made knowing Rugers reputation, I think a lot of people are looking for the "original" design be it Marlin or Rem/Marlin.
