R760 .300 Savage
I've got a soft spot for these old pumps. Found this one at a local shop and couldn't pass it up.

Somebody's idea of the ultimate deer rifle from back in the 60's.
|
Love the Remington pumps. I have both a 760 & 7600 in .30/06. Have put plenty of meat in the freezer.

yes, I have a 7600 35 whelen, that I purchased as a camp back-up gun,
a rifle thats been in constant use , when guys in elk camp, have issues like fogged scopes and loose mounts, and don,t bring a back-up and that rifles use has resulted in 4 people purchasing a similar rifle after using it... .Im sure it would be even more if the 35 whelen/7600 pump guns were currently easy to find now , as they seem to have been discontinued btw \54 grains of ww748 under a speer 250 grain, is lethal on elk |
I shot the six inch gong three times from the porch when I brought it in. That's right at about a hundred yards hit all three so it's ready for doe season this year. I think I'm going to leave the K4 and flip mounts on it. Just kind of a cool set up the way it is even if it's not the best scope anymore.
I've had a couple of these in 300 savage. Also a few 30 ought 6s and 270s. I had to sell quite a few guns back when the wife lost her job due to covid. But things are better now and I got a great price on this couldn't pass it up it's also the nicest 760 I've ever personally seen. -Jake |
Nice gun, Jake. Sounds like a good shooter, too.

That's a keeper Jake. Don't think they made many in 300 Savage. A lot in .308. The 760s are pretty good shooters once you can get used to the triggers. My friend has 2 that are really accurate.
