Taurus Total Titanium

I have a taurus titanium in .357. anyhow i was just looking through the maunual and it says not to shoot bullets over 158gr. and 1450fps. what would happen if i did? i have some federal 180gr. catscores that i want to shoot out of it.(volocity is 1250fps.) why would the bullet weight matter? i use this gun for backpacking and the 180gr`s looked good for blackbear. thanks

RE: Taurus Total Titanium

murphy70,They tell that for a reason.I'm not sure what the reason is. I think it has to do with the Titanium being so light and the heavier bullet maybe to much for the gun to handle. I have a fairly rare S&W Model 296, which is a L frame Titanium revolver in 44 Special(strange looking thing I might add).On the side of the bbl it has a warning saying don't shoot bullets over 180grs.I believe it's 180grs.Your barrel has a liner in it. Titanium can't be used for barrels.Something about it galls or something to that effect..I would take their advise and stay within the bullet weights recommended.Ruger Redhawk
