What do You Want in a 1911?

I do mean 1911A1. Personally I would like a few versions of a 7" longslide. What do you folks want? Be Well, Josh

I owned an AMT 7" long slide for a few years and foolishly sold it when I got offered a few dollars more than I paid for it

considering I have a bunch of them, I have to say what I want in one is it to work when needed!, then again I have some that are safe queens I will NEVER ever fire LOL
so, guess what one wants in one is a personal thing and why there are so many options on them!

yeah a 14-18 shot double stack magazine pistol in all stainless with a 6"-7" barrel,
in a similar pistol to the AMT, pistol pictured above,
and in my case , preferably double action trigger version ,
would be something Id buy if it was priced under about $1100
and ideally available in either 45 acp or 10mm

I occasionally think of acquiring one. However, my interest is historical as much as anything, but an authentic gun from one of our wars is out of my price range.

What might be an option is one of the SDS Imports/Tisas versions to sort of duplicate the historical configuration.

I have simple needs so my favorite 1911's are chambered in 45, made in the U.S., single stack, series 70, not Kimber, and a have small stack of good 8 round magazines.

As for size I only like the 5" original or the Commander. If it is carried on my belt it is a Commander.

The list of options is seemingly endless. A fellow can spend a nice sized pile of cash if he gets into 1911's.

I am going to say the first thing that I want in a 1911 is that the dang thing runs. I have a Kimber TLE/RLII. I started shooting it in 2011. My mother in Law got it for me for Christmas. The problems started right off the bat. Many people say it takes hundreds of rounds to break it in. So I put hundreds of rounds through it so did my family.

I can't find the pictures now but after a lot of rounds it was still running pretty sketchy. The sights had to be replaced because they were not working. They were the night sights. They installed them off to one side so the gun had to go back. Then the slide cracked. I wish I could find the pictures.
I picked up a Springfield XDs 45 and that gun ran right off the bat.
One day I took both guns to the range and my son and I were laying on the ground shooting under the truck on our sides. We had 2x4's on the other side to be legs of the bad guys. We were just practicing what if's. My Springfield ran perfect. The Kimber would not shoot on it's side.
I quit CC that pistol because it was just not reliable.
