Easy camo job
 

I decided to do a DIY camo job on my wood stocked Savage Mark II .22 lr. Just something to docwhile stu k at home. Project only took me ablout 3 days on and off.
you can see I removed the red dot and put a scope on it. Don't know why the pic came upside down!

Looks good. What did you use?

Rustoleum Camo paint in gray for base, some matte black for the lines and green and black for the spots. For the spots you use a natural sponge and rip it apart to give you different patterns. Jusgt spray a puddle on a piece of cardboard and dip the sponge piece in it and dab it on the stock randomly. Next one I do I'm going to add a mud brown color to it.
After its to your liking you protect it with a couple coats of matte finish polyurethane.

I am guessing you only did the stock? just be careful as a lot of gun solvents will remove the paint off things, so a heads up!

there are some better things now in a rattle can that are more resistant for coating guns, and made just for them, Duracoat is one of them

My preferred choice is to go with matched accessories.

This is another very cheap option that works well, and is really fast and easy to switch up as you change environments. It also gives you a nice warm grip in the winter, or a cool grip in the summer. Also, if you get injured you can use it to wrap your wound (with a dressing underneath, obviously), or wrap a twisted joint/ankle/knee.

Coban camo medical wrap. It's about a buck a roll on ebay and comes in several patterns.

Thanks for the heads up MRBB. The nice part about this though is it really doesn't matter because I can just dab on more if needed. I thing the Polyurethane will give pretty good protection from most solvents that I use anyway.
This is the second stock I've done. I previously did my Savage 93 .17 HMR very similar. I think I will be doing the stock on my Tikka T3 next.

That is the advantage of rattle canning. You can just rattle can some more as needed.

I wasn't satisfied with the job so i put some earth tone brown on it and 2 more coats of poly. I like it much better now.

again looks great and I like the non upside down pic's better too LOL
