Default CVA Hunter question

i just ordered a CVA Hunter in .44 mag. for my son to start hunting with next year, he will be 11 in the spring. I thought about starting him with .44 special ammo so he's not scared of it. Somebody told me that gun cannot shoot .44 specials. I know nothing about this caliber as I grew up only on slug guns. I've searched online and not found much. Is there a reason the rifle would not be able to shoot .44 specials. I plan to have him in magnum loads before next season, just don't want him scared of the gun out of the gate.

That is kinda what I assumed, but not being a rifle guy I didn't want to buy some and find out there was something about the special V that mag that made a difference.

I was just looking on Cabelas Q&A section of their website and someone asked if the gun will take .44 special and they answered it was not chambered to take .44 special, only .44 magnum.......

That's not surprising. They will only tell you what it is chambered for. But I see no reason that you couldn't.

Makes sense, I sent them (CVA) an email, curious to see what they say.

CVA did say that the .44 specials can be shot through the Hunter rifle. Can't wait to get my son out this spring punching some targets.
