350 Legend
Well I may be a bit behind the times here but I see that Winchester has come out with a new cartridge called the 350 legend. It looks like it would be a great cartridge for those area that can only use a straight walled cartridge. Other than that I really don't see any reason for someone to go trade in their good old 35 Rem. Yeah with the newer designed bullets and in a bolt action rifle it may perform better past the 150 yard mark. But IMO a Leverevolution bullet out of your 336 can be so close no deer or blackie is going to know the difference.
Not this may in the near future be another option for the AR platform. |
ARs are already out. And ammo is CHEAP at least compared to buying 45-70, .44mag, .444 and other popular " straight walled" options
I know quite a few guys buying them in Ohio. -Jake |
The only interest I have in one is if I were to rebarrel a Remington 7600 for one.
Funny thing is... I'm not even entirely sure if it's legal in Ohio. Read this article if you have a few minutes.... https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/whats-going-on-with-350-legend/amp/ -Jake |
I haven’t done so myself, but supposedly the guys living in Ohio have confirmed it’s legal. Even though the SAAMI spec is 9mm Pistol bullets, instead of .357” rifle bullets. |
ODNR says it is.
But their regulation still reads ".357-.500" I want to use my 9mm carbine some time ... If the legend is legal maybe my 9mm will be as well.... -Jake |
How does this cartridge compare to the .357 Maximum?

Can you buy a .357 max AR-15 on the shelf at your local gun shop? That’s how it compares. -Jake |
In the AR-15, the 350 Legend bridges the gap quite nicely between the more popular sub-.30 caliber offerings and the 45 and 50 caliber thumpers. It's basically an AR compatible 357 Maximum, but with much less reloading data available.
