What a blast
In addition to taking my model 70 out today I also had my Marlin Cowboy .45-70 and my AR-10 7.62 NATO. I had just put a new scope on the AR. Got it close at 25 yards then dialed it in at 100. The rifle was putting 5 shot into just over an inch. The scope has the ballistic reticles on it and with a fresh magazine of 165 Hornadys I proceeded to start smacking the gongs at 200 (both the 10" and 6"). Then using the 300 yard reticle I was smacking the 10" plate every shot. This rifle weighs a ton but man is it fun to shoot. Of course every rifle is fun if you almost always hit what you're aiming at.

Shooting steel out to what I consider moderate ranges (200-500 yards) is an absolute 'blast'.
Most rifles and shooters are capable of doing it with a little practice, and there's just something pleasing about that bullet smacking a gong sound.
Sounds like a good day behind the trigger.
