The weight has never been the problem I have with a Timney 510. Overall trigger feel, between slack, even lateral wobble, and the trigger shoe. Not a fan.

Different opinions are good. That is why they have horse races.

One issue I have with a stock is that my right wrist was injured a bit when I was in the service long ago. I guess I should have zigged instead of zagged. Anyhow it sometimes gets stiff and sore, other times is no problem at all. Yesterday it was fine and today it hurts. I usually like a more traditional grip than the more vertical grip on a hunting rifle. Target rifles are different. I have to just get the feel of a stock to see if it works for me.

Maybe I can have the word Creedmoor printed somewhere on the barrel to make it shoot better and be more fashionable.

25.06 might be great with a 24-26" barrel, but this is why

I'd rather go with a 270win with a 22" barrel, give me a shorter, stiffer barrel, that's my current thinking these days.

you mentioned 6mm., I always thought a 6mm Rem.AI would be quite awesome! and with a 24" barrel, I bet it could probably match the 25.06 or come close and wither higher BC's.

or maybe a 6.5-06?

Let us know how it turns out...

So far - the donor action was a stainless SPS, the barrel is a Douglas 10 twist, and the trigger is a Calvin Elite. The SPS recoil lug measured well so I used it and also used the SPS bottom metal. If it was a heavier recoiling cartridge I would probably have used a thicker lug, or if the factory lug didn't mic I would have used an aftermarket part, but the original was a good one.

It will likely be topped with a VX-3i 30mm 4.5x14 with a 40mm objective. I already have a spare HS Precision stock and a CDL stock gathering dust that I may use, or I may order an new one from Stocky's. I should have that figured out soon enough to get onto the range with it in a couple of weeks.

I shoved the barreled action into the old CDL walnut stock with pillars and a bit of bedding compound, screwed a VX-3i on top, set the trigger at 1 3/4 lbs., and loaded some Ballistic Tips. This one is finished.

Sometimes you just get lucky. I have shot a total of eight groups (five shots each) at the 100 yard range since this rifle was finished. The agg is under .5". Good golly - that is real internet accuracy! Now if I miss a pronghorn I will not be able to blame the rifle and will have to use the old standbys of "the light was poor", "my foot slipped", "solar flares", and "sat on a cactus".
