NEW Winchester .350 Legend
Winchester has come out with a new straight walled cartridge to market to the straight walled states.
I believe it's a .223 blown out to .35.
Should work in AR platforms. And I believe Winchester is releasing their XPR rifle in it as well.

I'll stick with my .375 Winchester and .45-70s currently. But it's always fun when something new hits the shelves.

I WOULD be interested in taking a Remington model 7600 and swapping barrels up to this. The .223 7600s are fairly rare, but you can find them. And this would make a good swap to have an Ohio legal pump rifle.

Pretty much a straight walled 35 Remington. I have an affinity for the tried and proven 35 Remington. Should be a good choice for most game within its limits, around 200 yards. In an autoloader, it should shoot pretty mild (low recoil).

I like the numbers on that. Low recoil but still has some good voodoo on the receiving end. And no it's not a blown out .223. It's a new cartridge from the ground up. May be the same case head size but there's a huge family of those. Better penetration than the .243 and 30/30 and half the recoil of the .450bm. Wonder how long it will take to get these offered in a lever gun?

HL, you're correct. It's not a "blown out .223"
Guys have been making .357ARs for some time now using .223 brass or .223 basic from starline. They were getting some impressive numbers out of them as well.
If Winchester wants to keep this thing alive they need someone to start making them in an AR, and a lever wouldn't hurt either.
They are selling plain fmj ammo for 9.99 for 20rds
Fairly cheap plinker with a little more umppphhh. And almost no recoil.

looks like it has some potential in the ar platform
and why not a ruger redhawk revolver, with a longer cylinder or x frame S&W
(might get a 9 shot cylinder the big S&W x-frame)
along with a marlin or browning BLR lever

Guys have been doing 375’s and 357’s on 223 brass for a long time, as long as the blackout, and longer really. It’s a formidable round. Really not sure where Winchester plays in, other than they may have felt a need to reaffirm themselves in the ammunition & cartridge development market, and maybe separate themselves from their waning firearms business...
Maybe a little too late for the AR boom, to put it generously, however.
But what really doesn’t make any sense to me - why on Earth would they name it “Legend?”

Probably think that it will help prevent it from becoming like the .375, .307, .356, .284, .264mag, .348 Winchester
And I'm sure there's more than I left out of that list....

well its surely not a serious magnum, but with decent 158-180-200 grain bullet weight, in a carbine or revolver,
and low recoil , it would transform the AR platform or marlin lever action into a decent 150 yard deer rifle,
and it would certainly easily eclipse the 357 mag performance in a revolver that had the cylinder length to chamber it
the 500 S&W has a 2.3" cylinder length, the cartridge case is 1.8" in length,
