Replacing the bead sight on an 870 Express????????
 

I want to replace the bead on my 20 guage Remington Express. I thought they were just screwed into the rib, but apparently I am wrong. How are they attached?

I tried to unscrew it counterclockwise, and it just keeps going around.

On a related note, since you got me looking at the sight on my mossberg 500, it appears that the post of the sight protrudes ever so slightly into the barrel. Is this dangerous? And would it mess up my slug pattern if I use it for dear?

1950KID, It should be screwed into the rib. Maybe the threads are stripped. I've seen this happen before.Loosening it up and it won't come out. Try applying some upward pressure as you turn it.I run into this at work quite often and that's how I get them out.If it's stripped you'll probably have to go to an oversized thread retaping the hole when replacing the bead. 1950Kid, I'm surprised that didn't work.I'm out of suggestions. One last one might be take it to a Gunsmith.It shouldn't cost much to install a new bead.He'll probably drill it out on retap it to a larger thread.I sure hope you get this straightened out.These things can get aggravating.
