Olde NE Hunter 08-22-2020 07:38 AM

I have neither the 45-70 or the 338 Lapua. At my age I'll probably never get the 338 but the Guide gun is a possibility if I stumble across a really good deal. I do have a Trapdoor Springfield in 45-70 that I have toyed with the idea of loading some black powder rounds and taking it out for Nebraska's late rifle antlerless hunt in January.

I used to own one of those. Amazing shotgun!!

Marlin 45-70 Guide gun, Winchester mod 88 in ,308, 12 and 28 gauge DeHaan matching sxs shotguns and my single action Ruger 45 Colt Bisley revolver.

Tough choices. But I think I'll go with the following:

Remington 870 12 or 20 gauge ( small game, upland, waterfowl, deer and varmints(coyotes))
Remington 552 22 s/l/lr ( small game)
Remington 700 30-06 ( big game)
Ruger Blackhawk 44 magnum( predator protection)
CVA Optima 50 caliber muzzleloader (Big game)
As you can probably tell, I like Remington firearms

#1 CZ 527 17 Whore-net
#2 Winchester pre 64 270 winchester
#3 Weatherby Orion 12 ga
#4 Browning BSS 20 ga
#5 Interarms Virginia Dragoon 44 mag
I will add three that are not firearms and do not need a FFL to sell or buy.
#1 Air Arms TX200 22 cal
#2 TC Hawken 45. with green mountain barrel
#3 TC Renegade 50 with green mountain barrel

RedneckGeek1 12-13-2020 11:10 AM

#1 Savage 24B in .22 Long Rifle over .410, great for tree rats & rabbits upto even turkey with the correct ammo for the .410
#2 Remington 870 Express Super Mag, 3.5" for geese and turkey, 3" and 2.75" for everything else. Between it and it's little 3" mag brother a lot of waterfowl has ended up on my table.
#3 Remington 760 in .30/06. My goal is to harvest at least one of just about every species of big game on the planet with her. So far this rifle has been to Alaska, Argentina, and New Zealand, and from Maryland to Michigan to Montana
#4 Winchester 70 in .416 Remington mag. For those animals where the .30/06 won't cut it. You know Cape Buffalo
#5 Springfield Armory V16 in .45 Super. Have taken a lot of deer and hogs with this pistol over the years, plus it can shoot .45 ACP

just for hunting Ill go with what has worked for me for decades
what I want more than anything else is absolute,
dependability and decent accuracy.

(1) a marlin 39a 22lr
(a small game like rabbits and squirrels )
(2) a Weatherby Mark V in 340 Weatherby
(most larger game at longer ranges, using a 250 grain bullet,
never had an elk or deer shrug off a good hit)
(3)an H&K super 90 12 ga
(you have to have a dependable semi-auto shotgun)
(4)a Colt HEAVY BARREL AR15
(varmints, hogs, and home invasion defensive use etc.)
(5) browning BLR in caliber 450 marlin
(dam effective at under 200 yards with a 405-grain bullet)

5 Attachment(s)
I'll go with 5 that I own or have owned (pictured below)

1) Ruger LCP with crimson trace laserguard and uprated for +P ammunition, for concealed carry
2) Suppressed S&W M&P 15-22 for plinking and small game hunting
3) Benelli M1 Super90 for hunting and home defense
4) AR15 pistol for emergencies such as a xenomorph invasion or communist insurrection (In my state a pistol variant holds huge legal advantages over a rifle)
5) HK P7 because everyone should have a trophy piece/work of art in their collection- and because it is one of the most unique and accurate handguns of all time.
