A Savage Axis II chambered in .270 comes stock with an Accutrigger and a weaver scope. I bought mine for $300. Its lightweight, shoots a .66 MOA grouping at 100 yards and is cheap. I have hunted with this gun for years and have enjoyed a lot of Elk meat because of it. The Federal Blue Box 130 Grain Soft Point has been a very cheap ammo that shoots incredibly well with this gun.

My daughter like my .280. While it is not a factory rifle, it is very similar to the Rem Mod 7. Light weight, low recoil, plenty of terminal energy, lots of available ammo, if you reload you can stuff anyting in the case and it will shoot 100 to 175 grainers. I like it for mountain packing for elk and mulies.
