New glass...
I' m looking for a new glass to put on my target rifle, I' ll be using it to 1200yrds, so I' d prefer to get a variable power up to 20 or 25x (i.e. like a 6.5-20x or 8-25x), and I' d like a 50 or 52mm tube. I' d also like to get one that' ll have a removeable sunshade, or at least an aftermarket sunshade available. It also needs to be an adjustable objective preferably, with an eye relief long enough to work on a rifle up to a .416rigby or .458Lott (probably won' t ever mount it on them, but you never know).
I' ve got about $400-500 to blow, so I can' t get anything really fine like a leup or Swar, but I' d like to get a good quality glass none-the-less. |
RE: New glass...
I was just looking at the Midway flyer. There are a couple possibilities. The Weaver Grand slam has a 6x20 with a fine crosshair for 339.00 and a sightron S2 tactical 6x24 mil dot for 335.00. Both have AO and both should stand up to about any recoil you could throw at them. Also check ot riflescopes.com. for more Ideas. You might also check out Cabelas on the webb they have a good selection.

RE: New glass...
BSA has a high variable scope for just the application that you need, for like, $100 or so. Might be $125.:D What a bargain.

RE: New glass...
Avoid the BSA. You' ll be dissapointed in the optics.
Check out the Bushnell Elites. They are in your price range and offer great performance. |
RE: New glass...
How about a Nikon? I haven' t personally owned one, but a friend speaks very well of them. Cabela' s lists a 5.5-16X with an AO for under $400.

Another great scope is the Nikon Monarch 6.5-20x44. Very good clarity and brightness. Offers 1/8MOA Target Style Adjustments and a sunshade. Comes in a Fine Crosshair, Nikoplex or Target Dot. With a price just over $400.00, it is a great buy.
