Default 6.5 creedmoor

I have a Howa Alpine w/20" barrel. It's a dream to carry and hunt with. I load it with 120 gr. NBT for Whitetail's in Oklahoma. I've had great success with Ramshot Hunter, IMR-4350, H4350, & RL-17. I've had good accuracy with all powders. RL-17 & Ramshot Hunter gave the best combinations of accuracy & velocity. I can exceed 2800 fps with either powder in the 20" barrel and have repeatable 1/2 MOA accuracy at 100 yards (3 shot groups as the barrel is thin on this lightweight rifle.) Have taken several feral hogs with this rifle and the 120 gr. NBT and they perform well at 2800 fps muzzle velocity. I believe you and your son will greatly enjoy the 6.5 Creedmoor. The 140's shot great from my rifle but the velocity was around 2550 max with my short barrel. The best factory load I've used is the Nosler 120 gr. NBT load. Averaged 2803 fps over my chrony and shot under 1 MOA consistently.

maybe so, but its the same case capacity and diameter of a 250 savage if you take out the body taper.
6.5 cm holds 52.5 gr of H2o
250 savage AI holds 51.9 gr of H2o. Loaded to equal pressures there is no difference between the cm and the 6.5/250 AI wildcats from the 60's.

HNI Thread from Last December where you made the same silly assertions

So not surprisingly, the 6.5 Creedmoor is easily formed by necking up and fire forming its "great uncle" - the 22-250 Rem.
The 6.5 really is nothing but a necked up, blown out 22-250, with a steep shoulder.

I do enjoy the 6.5 Creedmoor, just as I enjoy the 6.8spc or the 6.5 Grendel, or the Kawasaki 250cc Ninja I picked up a few years ago... Compared to my Hayabusa or my Daytona 955i, the little Ninja 250 is nothing but a toy, but it's lighter, and gets better mileage for toodling down the road to the grocers. Compared to the 7mm-300, 338 Edge, 300 Rum, the 6.5 is a short range pop gun, but it doesn't recoil as much, require as much rifle weight, or burn as much powder, so it's fun to practice LR shooting, when knock down power isn't a requirement.

why do we have to claim the creed isnt what it is, its not a necked up nothing blown out nothing it is a 30TC case, necked down, period thats what it is, i can make creed cases out of 243, doesnt make it its parent case. i think some of you like to argue for the sake of arguing. the .30 tc was developed by thompson center arms, it has no parent case. just cause all short action calibers have the same head diameter, doesnt mean they were all developed off a 250 or 300 savage

I saw a 300 wsm fail to pass through no less than 10 animals this year, the creed blew through 10 this year, hardly a pop gun, you know what we had to do to the wsm to get a pass through ? run 50 dollar box ammo of barnes to acheive what 20 dollar box ammo out of the creed does. saw the 25-06 fail to pass through a does head this year too.

you really need to take notes on what your seeing, all bullets are not created equal, but even thinner skinned bullets will penetrate better at slower speeds. High velocity impacts will cause any bullet to fail, I have saw 257 diameter nobler partitions fail to penetrate a gallon jug of water at 500 yards from just too much speed. both rounds you mention are faster than the creed, the only thing that the creed has accomplished is let folks shoot some fairly accurate factory rifles, thats all it has going for it, decent rifles with decent ammo, but not up to par with the good custom made stuff. Its ok, but not the end all to do all, a 260 rem. with a good barrel will shoot rings around it all day.
