Default 6.5 Creedmoor?

Anyone have one of these?- How do you like it?- I got my son one of these for Christmas.- It's a Ruger American Predator.

The last time we were at the range, we had all my hunting rifles out.- 300 Weatherby Mag, 300 Winchester Mag, 7mm Remington Mag, 30-06,- etc... all in either Weatherby or Sako.- My son said that we have all big, heavy guns that are really loud and kick a lot.- Why not get a more nimble rifle that's more pleasant to shoot at the range?- Good point.- -Also, cost to shoot.- -Even though I hand load, the 300 Weatherby eats 88.5 grains of RL22 per shot.- So it's not cheap.

I can't wait to get this one to the range.- I think I'll buy two boxes of cheap factory ammo to start.- Then I'll get dies and bullets.- Thinking of a 127 grain Barnes Triple Shock.- RL17 or IMR4350 will push that bullet to around 2900.

I dont own a Creedmore but i shoot a 6.5 swed. The 6.5 round is a really good choice for performance. It is very accurate and I believe that is mainly because people are not afraid of it. I have taken deer, bear and antelope with mine with no complaints.

Your Son is lucky to have a Dad like you.

Merry Xmas and good shooting.

would probably lean towards something close to the burn rate of IMR4895 in that case, it is basically a 250 savage necked up to 6.5.

I would have thought so, too. That's what I load in my 308 Win. Barnes shows no data with 4895, though. Odd.

Been using Superformance in mine with 140g Hornady SST's. Tight shooter. I believe it has 7 Ky whitetail kills over the last 2 seasons. Performs outstanding. No complaints.

4350 tends to be dealer's choice for the boom of 6 & 6.5mm shooters, whether in the 308, creedmoor, or x47L case. I only have a few months with my RPR in the 6.5, and it hasn't yet been my major focus, but 4350, when you can find it, has done very well for me.

Thanks. I have plenty of IMR4350 on hand. I'll try that first. I'll be studying a lot of reloading data over the off-season. Probably buy a couple boxes of factory ammo to play with and get starter brass.

i had the predator and sold it when i got my savage, both guns didnt like the few loads i ran through them, 140 sierra GK and 120 gr barnes, just for fun i ran 125gr win, xp ammo through the savage and it shot 2 half inch groups back to back so thats what im using now, killed a good buck this year, DRT behind the shoulder, complete pass through. I used hornady btsp in the predator, and killed a few hogs and deer with them all DRT but had 2 fail to pass through and one jacket seperation. my buddy is using factory hornady 143 eldx and has had every one pass through with big holes in and out
heres my very first kill when i started using the creedmoor, its the predator with 129 gr hornady btsp.
