Savage has been offering 6.5-284 rifles for several years (bought mine in 2008), but Ruger, Tikka, and Remington all have offered them off and on in the last decade. There are 11 factory loads currently listed on Midwayusa, 10 of which are available in stock...

but not one of those is offered in a sporting good store, and yet im told, here, that the creed is only good if you handload, yet its offered in every retail sporting good store., the 6.5 /284 is with out a doubt a bad mutha, and i was going to chamber one of my guns in it, it was just to easy to go the creed route, the 284s down fall is availability and barrel life, it will never make main stream, the creed put it to bed as well, only the few that bench shoot will use it

Okay, you obviously missed my point about TERMINAL BALLISTICS there. I'm not talking about shooters abilities. I'm talking about the cartridges capabilities. Downrange energy just is not there for shots past 500 yards with the Creed. Period. Plain point and simple. For it to even be CLOSE to having the same energy at 1000 yards as say a .308WIN, you would have to stuff a 140gr bullet in it, taking up valuable powder space and sacrificing MV. In a bolt gun you could have a little more run out according to MAG space but I can tell you right off the bat you WON'T have that MAG space in an AR. Comparing the Creed to a .308WIN in terminal ballistics is tantamount to comparing my .243WIN to my 7mm.08 at 500 yards! I can take 2 or 3 of my .243's out to 800 yards banging the gong with alarming regularity. But that in no way means I should try to take a whitetail at 800 yards!! Hitting the target is one thing. Having the energy to ethically take an animal is a whole other ball game.

I've bought probably less then 10 boxes of ammo in person in a store in my life...that's what online ordering is for.
