The 25-06 Remington is considered a bit overbore for bore size versus case capacity. It really needs a 24" barrel to attain the velocity it can generate. It's a great cartridge and I've taken many deer over the years with a custom barreled Howa 1500. I really prefer the 115-120 gr. bullets in this caliber. If you choose 100 gr. bullets I'd stick with something like the Nosler Partition or something with a bonded core. You can achieve over 3300 fps in the 25-06 with 100 gr. bullets if you handload.
