tc arms 223

anybody know anything about tc arms rifles? particularly their 223? there was a big spread in the American rifleman last month...

Reb you have to be a bit more specific. T/C makes several models of rifles. The 223 is a cartridge not a rifle model!

I'm aware that 223 is a cartridge. Thanks for the insight. I was asking a general question about TC Arms rifles. I know they make good muzzle loaders. in particular I was wondering if anyone had any experience with their rifles. In particular the ones the fire a 223 round. I assumed anyone who read that post would know what I was referring to. I'm sorry you didn't know I was asking about their rifles, not the cartridges.

I guess what people want to know Reb, among other things, is what sort of action rifle you're talking about.
T/C might be known primarily for their break-actions, but they have been making bolts for awhile, too. Which are you envisioning when you say "T/C rifle"?

Yep, they have been making Bolts for quite a long time now. They also make handguns. To answer your vague question reb1, I have been a TC owner for about 35 years now. The rig I currently own is the TC Pro Hunter model. I also have 8 rifle barrels from .223 to 300WM, 1 ML barrel (.50 cal), 1 rifled 12 gauge barrel, and 1 smooth bore 12. I'd have to say I have a bit of experience with them. I bought most all of these barrels before S&W took the company over with the exception of the rifled 12 and my .338fed barrel. I did use Mike's accurizing system to make it shoot even better than it did. Over all, they are a very hard rifle to beat when it comes to single shot production rifles. I think they went through a rocky period with lower quality right after the S&W takeover but I believe they righted the ship. Every one of my barrels, including the rifled 12 and ML, are sub MOA shooters when I do MY part. That's pretty hard to argue with there.

Thanks for the feed back super and young gun. I've been looking at there venture predator now in the 223. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on that one tomorrow. And your vote of confidence in them helped. Thanks again!!! What do you think of those tc scopes? Their 3-12x40 mm seem to have decent reviews. But they always qualify the good things they say about it as its great for the price...

I'd pass myself on those scopes. I don't recall who makes them, I THINK Simmons does but not 100% sure on that. They are okay I guess but I'm a pretty hard person to please when it comes to 2 things, optics and triggers. As far as the best bang for your buck, Nikon is about the best deal in their mid range scopes.

Thanks. I was thinking that or a viper vortex.

JagMagMan 09-22-2016 07:59 PM

The rifle would be good! If the scope is a Simmons, I wouldn't touch it with a 30 foot pole!
