Has anyone used the leupold riffleman scope? How does it compare to the vx 1?l

I don' t use Leupolds on my guns because I have heard mixed reviews of them. From what I hear they work better on guns that do not kick very much. A friend of mine busted the guts out of one that was atop his .300 mag for twenty something rounds.

this might be off the subject but..

i never heard mixed reviews about the leupold scopes. i always hear great things about them. you should have your buddy send back his scope since the rifleman scope is still a lifetime garuantee ( spelling ).

Thats the first negative i' ve ever heard about a Leupold scope too. I' ve used them all my life and have never had one single issue even when mounting them on heavy recoil rifles. I have friends who have them on their 300 and 7mm Ultra mags and have never had a problem. I agree your friend should send it back to the factory.

Only mixed reviews I have seen concerning Leupold scopes have been the three hundred million posts comparing them with Zeiss Conquests. In these posts their optics were brought into question. I only remember one reply where they had a problem with the scopes reliability. I have used and abused Leupolds for many years on all sorts of rifles and never had one fail to recoil and I don' t think one should expect any quality scope to have a problem with recoil. Saying all that the Rifleman is a clone of the old VAri-x II and should have no problem handling any recoil whatsoever short of maybe a 458 lott ... While not great optically it will prove to be one tough mother.

I' ve never heard of " mixed" reviews of Leupold scopes either! All I have EVER heard was good!
I don' t have any experience with the new Rifleman scope or the VX-1, but the Vari-X-II was the best scope you could get for the money! Sure when you get into the high dollar scopes the Ziess will win, but I' d still bet that you can' t get a better scope than Leupold for less than $200.00!!!

Yeah, I heard that howitzers work much better with different sighting systems than rifle scopes. For every thing smaller, the Leupolds are tough to beat- a whole lot of quality for the money. If something breaks, Leupold will fix it for free, and you don' t have to have it shipped overseas to have it repaired.[:-]

The rifleman should be a good scope. I have had more than my share of trouble with Luepolds as well. The last two however have been good omes. Never had any problem with my many Bushnells.

the only leopolds that i ever have trouble with is ones from pawn shopes, i then send them to oregon and get fix on warranty, usally i am aware of the problem and know i can make a good profit when they are fixed.. my 300 wearas the same 3.5x 10 it started with 10 yrs ago.. never skipped a beat, and this is a stainless /synthetic that is light and rocks the boat

The only difference is the Rifleman has Leupold' s new wide duplex reticle. Do some research and visit www.leupold.com
