Default Semi-auto rifle for OH and IN deer?

Can anyone give me advice for a good semi-auto rifle that shoots a cartridge legal for deer hunting in Ohio and Indiana? Here is my criteria:

Prefer a gun with readily-available ammo that is reasonable priced

I rarely ever take a shot over 100 yds.

Preference given to guns that offer more than 5-shot magazines.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

I believe Ohio has a 3 round ammo limit and the only guns that would work in your scenario would be a semi-auto shotgun or the Ruger .44 magnum Deerfield Carbine.

In Indiana you can use 450 Bushmaster, 458 Socom, and 50 Beowulf in an AR-15 platform.

A .44 Mag is all you need and there is absolutely no reason to have a hunting rifle that holds more than 3 or 4 rounds!

Thanks for the input guys. I never carry more than 3 rounds when deer hunting. But I'd also like to have higher magazine capacity to shoot just for fun.

As long as I can render it 3 rounds or less to make it legal while hunting, I'd like to be able to have higher capacity on hand for other purposes.

I just bought a marlin 45/70 for hunting Ohio. Looking for a 444 marlin for my wife, not having much luck in finding one right now. I've hunted there since the late nineties and have always used a muzzy.

so basically any straight walled case?
450 bushy, 50 beowolf, 458 lott, should be a few others, would take some digging to find them all, but they ain't common. never could figure out why there was never a 357 max built in an AR
