Default Unexpected gift

My wonderful wife gave me a surprise gift on Christmas morning. It is a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight .30-06 and a nice little Leupold VX3 2.5-8 to go with it.

She had heard me talking about this rifle sometime last year and she remembered me saying that it was hard to find one in the shops.

I guess I forgot to mention to her that I had found that rifle a while back and that I had one in the rack with that exact same scope on it. As I have long experience as a husband, I "forget" to tell her a few details (rifles, etc.) once in a while.

I am certainly not going to tell her that I already have that rifle!

Looks like my nephew will quietly be getting a nice little present of a slightly used M70, and I will be breaking in the new one.

Lol, surprises sometimes don't work out, but sounds like you have a good "secret" plan B. A similar thing almost happened to me with a ring i got for my wife.

I'd shoot it first, sometimes you just get a winner. I had a 1982 model 70 Xlr that was one of the most accurate rifles I've ever owned.
Sometimes it just all comes together.

Those are great rifles. I've carried one in .270 on a few occasions. Wish my uncle would sell it to me.

Is really special when you have a wife that listens to you and buys you some thing you want. Much better than one that says you don't need that you all ready have more guns than I have shoes.

My wife eves dropping heard part of me telling my hunting partner I wanted a 7mm08. What she didn't hear was in a Remington model 7.
So Christmas day I find a long box under the tree that can only be a rifle. I open it to find a Remington 700 mountain rifle in 7mm08 and a gift certificate for a scope at one of my favorite gun shops. Because my wife bought it the stock wood is beautify figured.

I did get the Model 7 about 5 months later for fathers day.

Maybe you should have used as much care shopping for a wife as you do a gun?
