Default 454 Casull Rifle

My father is finally getting his shoulder fixed from motorcycle accident a few years ago. He has been shy of recoil since and has been using a Rossi 357 for deer. I have handloaded a good round for him, a 180 grain XTP and 12.5 grains of 2400, he has been talking alot about wanting a bigger gun after the surgery.

Indiana has some strict gun laws so the 45-70 he mentioned wouldn't work so I thought about surprising him with a 454 rifle. Problem is offerings are slim from what I have seen. Another Rossi, which he expressed he wants to scope it and this action has a top eject, or a TC gun.

Does anyone know of any other options or know to install a scope to a Rossi 92 levergun. He has bought me enough guns when I was younger so I feel good about returning the favor. Even if I could get a scope on his current Rossi that would be great, his eyes aren't what they used to be.

i have the same rifle but mine i installed a peep sight on. if my memory is correct you have to use a scout type of scope on it forward of the ejection port ? i'll check to see if correct.

I was thinking $650 but a little over a $1000 for something really standout.

would you consider an AR15, chambered in an Indy legal cartridge that was the ballistic clone of the 358 Winchester? or another chambered in an Indy legal clone of a mid level 45/70 load?
