I am buying a new gun and want to know what u guys think I want to either get a .243 rifle or a .22 pistol...I enjoy hunting both coyotes and small game equaly so that is not a factor and I also already have 2 .22 rifles

25-06 or .270 have a little more thump and are still modest in recoil.

For coyotes, a 243win rifle. For pleasure plinking, 22lr pistol Ruger Mark III. No need to go to a long action 25-06 or .270 just for lil' ol' coyotes. A 22lr pistol will be fun on bunnies, but it's not the same kind of hunting versatility that you'd get in the 243win rifle.

Im on the .243 bus myself. You already have 2 .22's so theres your small game stuff. A good .243 with the proper bullets loaded up will reach out there and smack a yote for a loop. And if you end up wanting to deer hunt, THERE YA GO!!!

For me, the .17HMR is the "Modern" .22LR (Did I say that ?!?!).
The .243 is a "triple threat"; Hunt deer with it, when the season is over you kill coyotes with it, lastly you can hold your own in a target shoot.

You didn't say if you had another rifle you could use for yotes... if not, then I'd probably lean towards the .243. Or, you could build an AR in .223...
.22 is much cheaper to shoot if you shoot alot (and can find bullets) so if you really want a pistol, there are some nice one's that won't break the bank.
