Savage or Tikka

Hey all,
Looking at getting a new stainless synthetic rifle from either Savage or Tikka. Just curious what y'all think.
Thanks

I have a tikka and I really like it. You can't go wrong with ether

Mn,
That's pretty much what I've been reading. Might come down to cartridge selection.

Shop the caliber and model. I have a Savage Bear Hunter in .338 win mag and I love it.

I'm a lefty - so I'm somewhat limited.

Unfortunately, would have to go custom or semi custom for a 280 (my preferred caliber), but would "settle" for a 6.5x55 or 7mm-08. (I'm not hating on either caliber, just my druthers is a 280)

Either one will work for you. I have never had a bad Savage. Never owned a Tikka, but have a friend that has one and he loves it.

Proud owner of a Savage 16 Stainless Weather Warrior in .204 and a Tikka T-3 Lite Stainless in .223.

Still glad I own both of them !

I own both, while I love both and get very good accuracy out of both if I had the choice of one or the other I would pick Tikka, my T3 Stainless 6.5x55 is without question the most accurate rifle I have ever shot and I shoot A LOT or rifles. Savages are accurate but very bullet picky, where as the Tikka shoots EVERYTHING well including $13 a box Prvi ammo. My best handload will shoot under 1/10th MOA (one semi smooth hole) and that is using regular ol hunting bullets. You cannot beat that in a hunting rifle. I also prefer the ultra crisp Tikka trigger to Savages Accutrigger though they are both really good. Savage actions are a little clunky whereas the Tikka action is SUPER SMOOTH, some even say the best at any price, mine feeds so effortlessly that my OCD forces me to watch the round chamber since I cannot feel it at all. Tikka stocks are also better, fiber/martix vs mold injection is a no contest, like comparing Ferrari body work to a Tonka truck. My two current Savages are a 30-06 and a 270 WSM the 06 shoots right around 1/2 MOA consistently and the 270 WSM shoots just under that with it's best load.

I own both Savage and Tikka also. Both are very accurate right out of the box. However, I would lean toward the Tikka T3. The action is so smooth the bolt just glides across the rails and feeding is effortless. And the trigger is light and crisp with no take up 'lever' like the Accutrigger.

This is funny but I had to edit this post because without even reading Kachok's post, I almost reposted it verbatim.
