Those are cool rifles. My dad has a few. One of them he shot a few deer with a few years back, just to do it. Has a brand new in the box gun that's worth some $.... bought it for an investment many years ago. I don't know the details on all his, but they are neat guns.

Then what you have is an 1888 Model design. The 1888 was made from 1888-1893. If memory serves me correctly, I believe it was the last Black Powder version of the Trapdoor design by Springfield. The next Military design by Springfield was the M1903.

I think the Krag got stuck in there before the '03. It was the first smokeless powder American issue.
