Only one gun

After thinking about JagMan's reply I have to say that I'd also go with my Sako A7 stainless in 7MM RM with my Burris Signature Select 4X-16X 44MM Illuminated BDC reticle.

The original poster said "rifle" so I'd have to pick my 30/06 with Leupold 3X9. However, since others talked about multiple switch barrels , ... if that was kosher I'd pick my Mauser 98 in 8mm/06 b/c I have a .22 sleeve for it's barrel that allows me to shoot .22 lr as a single shot.

If I was only allowed to have one gun, I'd have more money available to spend on trips across the pond!

Although I don't own one, I think I'd go an M1A., .308 topped with a Trijicon 2.5X10x50 mil-dot reticle with green center.
I missed the 'hunting rifle" part of the question...easy; my Savage Weather Warrior 30-06 with a 3x9x40 Trijicon scope.
I really like that my shotguns get to stay :

I am with many others here that if I would HAVE to pick just one and it would be my custom built '06. It carries a Mauser action with a Hart taper barrel, thumbhole stock and Luppy glass. I can load it up and take anything on the North American Cont. and load it down for smaller critters.
