My Ruger 77 MKII 280 Rem. with a Bell & Carlson stock and Bushnell Elite 6500 4.5-30 scope. By far my favorite hunting rifle.

If I could only have one, I'd be in the same manner of thinking as Flags - something big enough to take me anywhere around the world. I'd have to flip a coin between a 416 Rigby or a 458win mag.

Of the rifles I currently own it would be my Tikka in 30-06 with Nikon 3-9x scope. Pretty much all I'd need.

If I only had one gun, I probably would NOT be going "around the world" with it! So I could probably do well with my 7MM RM.
Though the Savage 24 is really tempting! One gun, two calibers!

I guess I would have to cheat My TC with my 7mm.08, .50cal ML, 12ga slugger, and 12ga shot barrels. One gun, 4 barrels.

I've got a dozen big game rigs of my own & between my 2 sons they've each got 2 rigs a piece they keep in my safes... Picking only one would be tough but sentimental reasons aside, if I had to chose only 1 from the "stash" then it'd be my 280, Remington Custom Shop 700 SS (lam stock) with a Zeiss Conquest 4.5x14x44 held on via Warne mounts. It's a "hole borer" @ 100yds & with the right load it'll take anything I have business shooting a 280 with in the first place!

Out of the 5 cartridges I've owned (243,30-30,35Rem.,308,30-06) the 243 would be the one of choice if I was going to only deer hunt, which is all I've done.

With that being said if I was going to hunt anywhere in NA I think I'd go with one of the cartridge based off the 30-06,excludeing the .25 caliber.

Rifle and glass: a Remington 700 based action married to a McMillan or Manners stock with a Leupold 6X fixed power scope on top, probably the FXII 6X36.
