scopes...whats the difference???
 

Hi,

Im thinking about buying a scope for my T/C encore (209X50 muzzle loader) is there any reason i cant put a rifle scope on it or should i go with one specifcly for muzzle loaders...i would like to be able to use one scope for multiple barrels on it.

You can definitely put a rifle scope on that. I think you should get a variable, so you can turn it down for the muzzleloader and back up for the rifle. There is no difference really between a " muzzleloader scope" and a rifle scope. Just get a quality scope that gets good light. I have Burris scopes on my rifles, and they are awesome. Made here in Greeley, CO too. Check em out.

I have a 2X7 regular rifle scope on my muzzle loader. Some scopes for muzzle loaders have a different rectical and some have Paralax set for 50 yards or so but as Big Bore said any good rifle scope will work just fine on the muzzle loaded. Good Hunting to you!

To my knowledge, there' s no difference between a " rifle scope" and a " muzzleloader scope" . There are differences between rifle, shotgun, and handgun scopes. It' s usually eye relief.

i think most shotgun and muzzleloader scopes are parallaxed to 50 or 75 yards where rifle scopes are 150. im not into technical terms but that must make some difference maybe someone could explain it better or at least pros and cons of the parallax and where the bullet will hit if out side the range of it.

Because they are parallax adjusted to about 75 yds. I would go with a rifle scope. Good luck.

I have a Mossberg that has interchangeable barrels and I have the riffled and muzzleloader barrels for it. I picked up a new Mueller 3-9x40 which is the perfect all purpose scope. It gathers alot of light, it has a unique reticle design for fast target aqusition and dark targets. Standard fine cross hairs on other scopes are fine until your in a dark swamp hunting a bear 15 minutes before dark. It is by far worth every penny they are selling it for and I expect to see them wide spread soon.
