Sad to say, I missed a wonderful opportunity to buy a very nice condition one 5 or so months ago for around $300.
It was in a used rifle display case in one of the larger privately owned LGS in Houston Tx area. I knew a little about the MR7, but had never seen one. This MR7 was a 30-06. I already owned a few nice rifles in this cartridge, so that kinda discouraged my interest in it. Store clerk who opened the case for me to handle the rifle had commented to me this must have been put on the floor yesterday when he was off, that he'd not seen this rifle. While he knew nothing about the MR7, he was surprised at the low price on it, which we briefly discussed. I almost bought it just for its action to build on. But the max amount I allow myself for a gun budget had been used by a couple of other gun projects I had going at the time, so I talked myself out of buying it.
A couple of days later, I'm at range shooting and mention the $300 MR7 rifle to a fellow member. Turned out, he'd been in the same store a day after me and had also looked at the rifle, but price tag on it he saw showed a price of well over $700. Guess, my comments to the store clerk had caused him to check on MR7 rifles and changed its selling price.
Within a week after seeing the rifle, I'm back in the LGS and the MR7 was gone.

The only one I seen I handled and it differently was not worth $700. I can't remember the price of the one I handled but it was about 50 more then the remington 700 adl they had. Then the adl they had at Wal-Mart had a wood stock.
