Problem with Beretta O\U

I took my Beretta Onyx duck hunting and when I fire the first shot the safety is coming on by itself. I thought maybe I was putting it on by accident so I made sure to keep my thumb away from it and it keeps happening. Has anyone seen this before or have any idea what could be causing this to happen?

Your Beretta has any automatic safety built into it. Everytime you open your action it automatically sets the safety. You can have your local gunsmith change this to a manual safety for you. I own a Beretta Onyx myself, I had a gunsmith convert mine to a manual safety years ago.

I' m with Wolf Killer, I want to be in charge of the safety not a mechanical device in the gun' s action.

If you tell your smith about the safety being jarred on recoil, all ha has to do is tighten the detent...altering the auto safety will not fix your problem I believe....I' ve been wrong before.

Thanks guys, I was aware of the auto safety and believe it is being jarred on by the recoil because it was on when I tried a second shot.

I had a Beretta 687 that did the same thing. I took it back to where I bought it, they were also a Beretta warranty dealer and said they couldn' t do anything about it. I sold it right away because it also pounded into my face when I shot. This was years ago and I' m pretty sure they have a fix for it by now. Call Beretta and see.
By the way, what shot are you shooting through that gun for waterfowl.
