Difference between Baikal MP155 71 cm and 76 cm!!
 

Hello guys, hope you are fine,

i am a new hunter, and i want to buy a Baikal MP155 12/76 gauge.

some people tell me to buy the 71 cm and others say buy the 76 cm because the 76 have a bigger range? is this true?

or both 71 and 76 can give the same range ? (without any chokes i mean through the default same choke on both)

and any ideas about the barrel default choke size if its 18.5 or 18.7 or 18.9 .... ?

This is America, we don't measure barrels with the metric system.

Both guns will shoot just fine, the shorter one will swing better and usually longer barrels are for trap and competition shooting...

With modern screw-in chokes those 2 inches (+/-) mean almost nothing.

Best advise - Buy "extended" screw-in chokes (only way to fly) !

Longer barrels have a longer sight plan and help develop a good follow-through.

Shorter barrels are better for the field and longer barrel are better for shooting clays IMHO.

ya sure its not 71 and 76 mm? 76mm is a 3" chamber, 71 is 2 3/4"

Ridge is on the ball for this one.

The Baikals get labeled in Euro as 12-71, 12-76, or 12-89, occasionally 12/71... Which is 12ga 2 3/4, 3" or 3.5" (71, 76, and 89mm).

BUT, they also happen to offer then in 66, 71, and 76cm barrel lengths, corresponding to 26, 28, and 30" barrels. Personally, I'd pass on the 76cm, then flip a coin between 66 and 71cm. For most of my hunting, 26" has treated me just fine, but I honestly don't notice much difference for a 28" (76cm) barrel. I DO start noticing a nose weight difference and swinging weight difference for 30" barrels though.

The Baikals I have owned were all double barrel side by side shotguns, which came with threaded barrels and full, modified, and improved choke tubes.

The current listings that I can find for the MP155 state that it comes with interchangeable choke tubes, so I'd assume that all 3 sizes are included.
