Scope for Remington 1187

I was wondering what you all would recommend for a scope for a Remington 1187 with a cantelever fully rifled barrell?

I had a Bushnell 1.74-4 x 32 on my old shotgun that was pretty good. Any others you have had experience with that you would reccomend or stay away from?

What are your thoughts on a Red Dot scope?

Thanks for your help,
UpNorth

Take a look at the Burris scopes. I have a Fullfield 2, 1.75-5X on my 45/70, and that scope gets great light. I got the scope, with signature series rings and base, for like 280.00 dollars. Strong enough for the recoil, a fairly light rig too. Good luck.

Big Bore, Thanks for the input I will take a look at that scope.

Anyone have any experience with Red Dot scopes? I think I would be worried about the batteries going dead and being SOL.

Anybody have websites for some good pricing on scopes? I will do a search on the forum and see what I find also.

Thanks for your help,

I would go with a Pentax 2.5X Lightseeker SG Plus. Good luck.

Leupold makes a 1X4 shotgun scope which comes pre-paralax adjusted for 75 yards right from the factory. I have this scope installed on a Winchester 1300 and I love it. With there " Lifetime" warranty, you can' t go wrong with a Leupold!!;)

I used a red dot on one gun and it works great out to about 100yds. All the kids in the family borrow it for their shotgun only hunts.

BSA makes a 1.5x4.5 Catseye for about $70 and we have had great luck with it. It also has a " Lifetime" warranty. This is the best of the inexpensive scopes.

Nikon has a new Prostaff 2x7 that is impressive. I would rank it in the high end market and it will compete with Leupold easily. About $150

Leupold replaced my old VXII with a new VXI under their " Lifetime" warranty. I' m still not happy with that.
