Default need help

just got my first gun. it is a 12 gauge Revelation western auto, with a 30 in full choke bead sight barrell. This gun was a hand me dwn from my grandfather who past away 20 years ago. So I am not really sure how old the gun actually is but my problem is I am trying to find a deer barrell for the gun and I called my local gun store and the guy was a real jerk and basically just told me that he has never heard of that brand of shotgun and doesnt know what would fit with it. I have look around on the interent for other revelation shotguns, but have had little to no luck. if anyone has any information to my problem it would be much apperciated. thanks

three things....you can shoot rifled slugs in your shotgun " as is" ...even with the full choke.

you can have your barrel cut off to 26" and install sights and have screw-in chokes installed for a smoothbore barrel...I believe there' s chokes with rifling in them that works fairly well.

or contact Hastings http://www.hastingsbarrels.com/12guide.html

and see if they have a barrel for your gun.....there' s a very slim chance a browning barrel will fit it....but make them say so.

Here' s another thing.....

Go here..... http://www.e-gunparts.com/crossref.asp which is a cross reference sheet. Scroll down to the Western Auto shotguns and find your specfic model and who it was made by, i.e, Marlin, Springfield, Hight-Standard, Savage, etc... and the matching model number. That will cut your chase by 90%. Once you find the manafactures model number then look for that part. The same page I gave you above has a great many products for the older model guns. You can also check here....

http://www.brownells.com

http://www.gunbroker.com or other gun auction sights.

Good luck to you.

Thats a fairly old gun. It' s probably gonna cost more to have the barrel cut down and fitted for a choke than what it would cost to buy an 870 thats already set up. Considering the fact that it was passed on by your grandfather, you might want to keep it the way it is.
