Didn't see where you posted the gauge of your 870. Mine is a 20ga, very accrete with Remington Buck Hammers but seems they are no longer being sold. A friend uses Remington copper solids with good results.

I suggest you buy several different brands of slugs and try them to see which are best in your rifle. Also in mine 3 inch size didn't work as well as 2 3/4 size ones for some reason.

do yourself a favor & get a savage 220 & put leupold 1x4 or 2x7 i quit counting how many deer ive killed with this gun & set up using remington accutips both in 2 3/4 & 3" 3" has better accuracy & another slug i use in heavy brush is the winchester gold petition all kills drt & have fun here in ohio they are about to pass pistol rifle cartridges meaning straight wall cartridges i see no reason to go that course my savage is & has killed out to 264 yrds.

I own many slug guns, 12ga and 20ga, and the most accurate by far is the Savage 220f

I don't own one but saw amazing accuracy from a friends.
I'm going to get one soon.
I do have an 870 12ga. w/rifled barrel, and no slugs work better than 2-3/4 Copper Solids. At 100yrd.
I am going with the Savage 220 next.
