Ruger LC9
Thinking about picking up a Ruger LC9.
I really don't know much about pistols, saw one of these at a show and just liked how little it was, so perhaps I'd conceal carry it at some point, also just something fun and little to shoot plink etc.. with. Pretty sure I want something small and light and in 9mm. Open to other brand suggestions though. thanks in advance. |
Trigger is long and pretty heavy from factory. Sights on the LC9 are actually pretty good, wish they were tritium instead of just white, but they pop in low light (just not NO light).
Accuracy is good if you have decent trigger control. MUCH more manageable and shootable than the LCP, with a lot more to hold onto. Recoil is still pretty sharp with 9mm. DAO trigger is long and heavy enough that it's not much of a pleasure shooter, but it's a pretty good defensive trigger. Like mine a lot. End up carrying the LCP more because I can hide it easier in less (jogging shorts and no shirt - hard to beat that). |
I have the LC380 (.380 auto version of the LC9) - my only dislike is the long trigger pull.

The trigger pull is pretty long on the LC's, but it's long on most DAO's (but yes, particularly long feeling in the LC's).
But I do think that the recoil assist DAO of the LC's is an advantage. You don't have the disadvantage of drawing the mainspring during the entire trigger travel, so it's a bit lighter than it might be as a standard DAO. |
