Rossi/Puma .454 Casull

Friends, I have a couple of questions about the Rossi/Puma .454 Casull and I would appreciate any informed response. Has anyone used this firearm and load on whitetail, hogd, and larger game animals? If so, how well did it perform? Second, what is the average price for the Puma .454 on both the low and high side? Finally, what is the recoil like in the least potent and the most potent loads?

Thanks and have a great night,
Boltaction

The .454 kicks like a mule in the handgun, so if you are not into recoil veer away from it. I am not positive, but I know some companies are working on chambering lever guns in the round, and that will be awesome. That thing will work on any of those animals you mentioned, and then some. Other rounds to consider if you are buying something in that range are the .480 Ruger, the .475 Linebaugh, .500 S&W, and of course the " meager" ;) .44 magnum. Good luck man!

Current wholesale is around $289.00 or so, so you should be able to find a local small FFl guy who would sell you one around $350.00.

My understanding is Rossi is now owned by Taurus International. If that' s the case it' s probably a fairly decent rifle.I know the Rossi handguns back several years ago weren' t much. The 454 Casull is a handful in a handgun. It' s manageable for experienced shooters. I would imagine it would be pleasant shooting out of a long gun even for the inexperienced shooter.
