Eldeguello

I started visiting the Hunting Net forums about 7 years ago. Have done far more reading than posting through the years. The knowledge and experience of some of the members is beyond impressive. I was culling some old private messages when I came across some helpful info from Eldeguello regarding a troublesome Ruger 1. His knowledge was always insightful and I found myself reading his posts even on topics of little interest to me, as I do with certain members to this day. Do some of the older members remember him? If so, does anyone know why he left the forum? Last activity appears to be 2009.

I remember him as well and have noticed his absence.

The ol 'Cut Throat'... Yeah, it's been a long while. I ran across him a few years ago (same name, same avatar of the Spaniard) at another site, forget which one it is now, since I haven't been using it.

El Dequello was a wealth of info and experience, but as such, didn't always see eye to eye with some others. He'd be a welcomed readdition if he came back around these days for sure, but after this long, I doubt that happens.

I've missed his input. He was an old timer here and obviously knew a great deal about firearms, in addition to many other things. His advice was always top notch.

I remember & miss him too! It is only my guess, but I'd say many of us old timers have left because everything becomes an argument or pissing match the last few years. Probably why many newbies don't stick around long either! I know I've probably caused one or two and have gotten sucked into others! I wish it wasn't so, but that is what it has become. We all could be a little gentler in our opinions. When someone asks about Brand X there is no need to try and sell them Brand Y. Or calibers either! Just my .02! But, it's not the same place it once was!

face it, the net has come down to internet educated folks against those who been there done it and learned from it, it gets old I've gave it up more than once, but just too hard headed to walk off

I thought I saw him post awhile back. Not sure now. Some members on hear have a way with putting information into clear coherent words.

Ridge said it all right there. People can learn as much about ballistic's and equipment over a week period as some of us have tried and tested in the field over decades but one thing that they are missing actually doing it in the field or on the bench. Pretty easy to say your gun will do this or that but actually doing it is a whole different story.

I believe they call it book learning versus real world. There's a place for both (who doesn't own a reloading manual or 2) but there's really no substitute for real world experience. In science, they come up with theories and then go find some evidence in the real world. Ok, I know I'm gonna hear about this from the science majors but oh well.

My feelings precisely. Well put RR.
