My first rifle was a .22 single shot bolt action Remington Model 514 that my Dad gave me when I was about 10.

My first centerfire rifle was a bolt action .30-06 Herter's Model U-9. I ordered the barreled action and a semi-inleted stock from Herter's and put it all together in the summer of 1967. That rifle kept my freezer full of deer, antelope, elk, and moose meat for over 30 years.

First gun was a Sears and Roebuck bolt action single shot 410 given to me by my uncle. Killed enough squirrels to feed an army with it. Recently passed it down to my nephew with the understanding that he passes it on to a nephew when he gets older. First 22 was a Remington 341, bolt action, peep sighted jewel made in the 30's, given to me by a family friend for my 12th birthday. Still have it, it'll go to one of my sons. First one with my own cash at age 15, Remington 1100 12 ga, 30" full, duck killing machine, sold it like a fool about 8 years ago, I'd pay twice what I sold it for to get it back.

When I was 4 and my brother was 5 our grandfather bought us each a Win M1984 in 30-30. The year after that he got both of us Stevens single shots in 20 ga. Both my brother and I still have them. I shot my first deer at 6 and my first elk at 7 with that 30-30. Shot my first rabbit, pheasant, duck and grouse with the 20.

Every once in awhile I still break them out and take them to the field. It just feels right to pop a doe with the 30-30 and think of my old grand daddy smiling in heaven when I do. And the 20 has piled up a truckload of cottontails over the decades that have passed since I was given it. Of all the guns I've obtained over the years, those 2 will never be for sale. When I'm gone, they will be passed on.

Ahh my first gun was handed down to me from my father and it was his older Marlin 30-30 lever action all the way. That rifle was and always will be a great gun to shoot.

First gun I actually owned was a Steven / Savage S X S in 20 ga. 3 in. It has one modified barrel and one full choke. My dad and grandfather / gunsmith gave it to me on my 16th birthday in 1969. They each gave me a barrel!

Still have it today, and it swings easy and I can still actually hit birds with it.

My first gun was a Winchester single shot 20 gauge thatI used for birds, rabbits, and squirrel in western Pa. Shortly after I got that one, dad bought me a Remington model 788 in 6mm Remington. Nice plain jane gun that shot great. I let my brother have it to use when I went away to college and he sold it and bought a model 760 Gamemaster in 30-06 so when I came home, I reclaimed that rifle.
