Im fixin to buy a new dpms 7.62/308 ar. My plan is to shoot the 7.62 surplus for target then get some good 308 rounds for hunting
I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for a source for bulk ammo. Good qaulity but a good price |

Gonna be looking for a really really really long time... Surplus and quality don't go hand in hand.

Not really looking to burn through mags. More just i like shooting kinda calming to me. I do not will not run crap ammo when i bought my first ar two weeks before the ban lifted i bought some surplus ammo at the same gun show. It had green crap all through my gun and smelled of ammonia. Im thinkin buy a 500-1000 rounds good ammo and reloadin it

Wal-Mart in winchester va has a lot more then 20 box's of 150 rounds of federal american eagle 223. Not sure of price didn't need any. So this is a good sing ammo is being available again. They had lots of other ammo awhile, but no 22.

Try luckygunner.com or bulkammo.com I personally don't have a 308/ 7.62x51 at so doing know if these are good prices but they do have it in stock.

I'm starting to see boxes of Winchester 7.62x51mm (147 gr, FMJ) start to show back up on the market. That's about the "cheapest" I'll go when it comes to my M1A. A lot of the cheap surplus stuff that you used to be able to find was foreign machinegun ammo, delinked and repackaged, and often - corrosive. When 5.56mm is showing back up on the shelves at 150-200% of what it sold for pre-panic, be prepared for some sticker shock. While bulk 5.56mm has been available then an now, I've never seen "quality" 7.62mm offered for sale in the same bulk quantities. You may need to get used to the idea that you'll buy your ammo one magazine at a time. |

Its been 8 years since i had a high power rifle. Since indiana wont allow hunting with em. |
...and it aint cheap, even with surplus crap ammo. The .308 is a great hunting round but for practice shooting it gets expensive very fast. And reloading? Again if you want to shoot a lot of rounds reloading a lot of ammo on a single stage press gets boring. I suppose you could go with a progressive press but for the cost of that set-up you could get yourself an AR. I recently bought an M1a...love the rifle but it does not take long to go through $100.00 worth of ammo...ammo that I hand loaded on a single stage press. JM2C |
Its gonna be my hunting rifle. And i ant gonna trust a 223 on a elk
