Winchester 94

I have a Winchester 94 30-30. Its an awesome shooting rifle but has the worst trigger I' ve ever used. Does anyone know if the trigger on a lever action rifle can be fixed by a gunswith or replaced with an aftermarket trigger?
The problem with this trigger is it has a lot of slack in it and when you get the slack out, it' s about an 8 or 9 pound pull. Ruins accuracy.
Thanks!!

RE: Winchester 94

i for one do not know of , nor do i think an after market trigger for the model 94 is available ( not saying that there aren' t , just i haven' t heard of any ), as for a gunsmith working on it , i think it would be a better idea to ask one of your smiths if they' de be willing to do it , a lot of smiths will shy away from trigger work for fear of a liability lawsuit if an accident were to occur but , like i said , see if one of your local smiths would be willing to do it , or might know of somebody who would be able and willing to do it for you :D:D

I' ve been wondering the same thing, although I dont' think my trigger pull is quite 8 or 9 lbs.

The M94 trigger mechanism, like a lot of other lever action triggers, is a simple engagement of the trigger nose and the hammer notch. It is easy to make it better, and keep it safe also. Hammer notch depth is reduced slightly while keeping CONTACTING angles the same, and polishing the engaging surfaces with hard Arkansas Stone files. I did my Marlin 336, and smoothed it up quite well. I ended up with a 4# pull with no creep.

Any competent gunsmith can do this job.[8D]
