beretta or benelli
 

Hello, I'm in the market for a semi auto 12ga. I was looking at the beretta a400 xtreme, benelli m2 field, and the new browning a5. All my guns I shoot regularly so even it its a "hunting" gun I will still shoot it a lot whether it be at the skeet range or on my own property. What are your guys opinions on which is the best and the best quality? I don't have anywhere close to go test them so any help would be awesome.

I would say try the beretta. They make amazing guns. Their shotguns are top of the line and their pistols are awesome. Benelli makes great guns as well but I do know a couple guys who have benelli's and there seems to be a common problem. They jam a lot and they really don't like low brass shells. They are quite expensive guns therefore they like to be fed top of the line ammo. I cant say that's how it is for every benelli out there obv. but im just giving you info. I would check out the beretta. They are a great company as well.

Can't go wrong with either, but I'm Benelli through and through. M1S90, M2, M4, SBEII, even the lowly SuperNova, no finer scatterguns on the market.

they're made by the same company, franchi is in the mix also, as is a cheaper line which I don't recall the name of, I have a franchi 912, exact same gun as the super black eagle except its gas operated instead of inertia.

I stumbled across a used SuperNova a few years ago at a bargain price and bought it. Never owned a Benelli before. I don't have any experience with their autoloaders, but I'm completely impressed with the SuperNova and the company.

I shoot a beretta o/u with LH wood and a Benelli LH M2
I sold all of my Beretta autos (3) to switch to a LH Benelli M2. If Beretta offered a LH gun I would have went that way. I made the switch to LH after years of fighting the dominate eye. My Sporting Clays scores improved.
My M2 had some jamming problems with low base at first. after 500 rounds it has been flawless.
If I was right handed my personal favorites were the older Beretta 390. Beretta Autos are awesome
I also had the 1st gen extrema and a 391Urika as well all great guns.
I tried to stay with Beretta, I even faked it for a while shimming the Stock Cast to LH and flipping the safeties on the 390s.
While duck hunting in poor light I got to see (closely) how much I was exposing my eyes to the flash/gases that come from the reciever shooting 3in. mags.
I bought a Benelli LH the week afterwards. Some say if you get a Gas Gun wet enough it will fail.... I have never had that happen.
You really cannot go wrong wth either Beretta or Benelli. Both guns can be shim adjusted to fit and that is really a big deal the more you shoot.

Read up on the two brands. As others have said, Beretta owns Benelli(and a host of other companies) but that does not necessarily make them better. I have a Beretta 390 12 gauge and it is a very fine shooting shotgun. Beretta semi autos are generally very soft shooting due to their gas system that operates the action. Benelli uses what they call "Inertia Driven" system. It has a little more recoil but may possibly be a little more reliable.
