I sight all my rifles in @ 100 yards as a rule. I did however sight my new BAR Stalker in 270 @ 2.5" high at 100 yards. I' ll be using it for longer shots on a powerline.

It' s obvious from the variety of responses that folks are hunting in a wide variety of environments.
I hunt elk in Colorado and the opportunity is there to shoot an animal in heavy timber at close range or across a drainage.
I use the point blank method of sighting in. My .300 RUM is sighted in three and a half inches high at 100 yards which puts it dead on at 330 yards. This means that my 180 grain NP will impact within a five inch radius of point of aim from the muzzle out to 370 yards.

2 1/2" high at 100, 1" high at 200 and 4" low at 300 is how I sight my 7 Rem mag.

i sight both my 30-06 and 300 wby mag at 30 yards which put both around 21/2" high at 100 yds and close to dead on at 250 yds.

I use the Max. Point Blank Range (MPBR) system. It depends on what game I am hunting, what round I am using, ballistic coefficent (BC), bullet weight, and velocity. Good shooting!!

It depends on what I will be hunting and where I' m hunting . I might set one for long range and another for short range depending on what type of country I will be hunting and what I will be hunting .

I " let em eat" !!! I have a 280, 7mag & 30/06 (yep what one will do the others will do, I can only have one woman so I at least have a few different guns!) I sight them all in 3" high at 100 and since I typically shoot light bullets, they typically are " on" in the 250-300yd range. But since getting a Sako/Lazzeroni Warbird, I havent the need for maxing out my other guns anymore. I only hunt with the Warbird and the 280 anymore and then the 280 I only shoot while in the woods. I am cosidering re-sighting it to be only an inch, inch-half high at 100 as a result. My Warbird shoots a 30cal 130 Xbullet at 3900fps, with 3" high at 100 it is dead on at 400 and about 7" low at 500.

LOL my grandfathers old 35 Marlin he left to me isnt scoped, so why bother? If it was scoped (he made me promise I wouldnt because to him, " Its a saddle gun, not built for a scope" !) I would probably have it about 3" high at 100 as well. (However I' m glad I aint stuck with its garden hose trajectory!)

Wow, you all are some long range shooters. I have all mine sighted in for 100 yds. Rarely do I shoot over that, so 100 yds. works for me.

Me too! +3" @ 100, about +3.5" @ 200, about -3" @ 300, and never shoot at anything much over 250 yards!!
