Default Speaking of squirrels

I have 2 grandchildren; 8 yo boy and 6 yo girl. Both want to go hunting with me. I've been taking my grandson out trying to get him a turkey with his 870, 20 ga youth model. But so far no luck.
And today I happened to stop by the gun shop and he had a youth model H&R single shot .410 for $85 and it was in great shape. This summer I will be taking both the kids out to the range and have them shoot clay birds set up on the backstop and get them ready for the fall for squirrels. That should be bunches of fun.

Sounds like a load of fun to me too! Pretty hard to beat a 3" .410 with 6shot for squirrels! I just picked up a "Snake Charmer" to start taking my 5yr old nephew squirrel hunting. Perfect sized for his tiny little frame, but just enough choke to knock down squirrels.

I cut my teeth with a Stevens single shot 410. My son started hunting with the same gun when he was about seven. Looking forward to seeing my grandson get the chance to tote it around as well. Heck, I still enjoy taking it out every so often.

Both my kids have a .410 single. Nice little squirrel guns for sure. Enjoy

I'd bet a bunch of us started out with a .410. Mine was a Mossberg, 3-shot vbolt action with a "poly choke". Man what a present for my 8th Christmas (1956).

I can't believe it...but I have never owned a 410...constantly on the prowl for one, just haven't found the right deal at the right time....a buddy of mine has an old Marlin 410 Lever's...one of the original shareholder gift guns from the 30's that I have been trying to talk him out of but no luck. I do have an old NEF single shot on the boat in Alaska for Halibut and sharks but no one remembers who left it...that's as close to owning one I have come to...LOL
