Default Load suggestions for my new .260

Hey guys...I just got one of the guns I've been wanting a long time. Rem 700 Mtn Rifle in .260

So I'm gonna get with my dad this spring (he has the reloading stuff) and work up some loads for it. Anyone have any suggestions for good loads?

Looking at all the bullets available in 6.5 - I'm probably leaning towards one of these. Nosler 125gr partition, or the 130gr Accubond, and Hornady 129gr SP Interlock, or the 129gr SST.

I've used the 139gr SPBT Interlocks in my .280 for 25yrs, and they are awesome. As of now, that bullet has my favor. I know it works perfectly at all distances I'll ever shoot, even relatively fast (3050 chrono'd).

Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

The only bullet I hunt with in all three calibers (.243, 25-06, 30-06) is the Hornady BTSP as it is, as you say, awesome on anything I've shot with it over the last 10 or 12 years since I went to it in reloading. I reload the 100, 117, and 150 grainers respectively for those three calibers for all big game and don;t think you can beat it, especially cost wise.

Yea Topgun, I've had great success with it too and you are right, they aren't real expensive. They don't make a BT SP version in 6.5mm, but do have the std flat base SP 129gr. Doubt that will make much difference for me if I go that route. All my shots are under 300, with most under 100. The SST 129 is a BT, but I've never used them.

The SST's are good bullets, very accurate and pretty cheap. In a 260 it should be a great choice. I have a 260 XP100R pistol, I have never shot those though. Great cartridge!!! Congrats!!!!!! In my XP100 I actually use a Speer 140gr. Hot-Cor, it is a little heavy but in that pistol it shoots amazing. Off a rest on the range it will shoot as good if not better than any hunting (sporter)rifle I own and I have haved used this pistol and bullet combo to kill elk, flawless bullet performance. just another to concider.

I am an avid Nosler fan....and especially AccuBonds and Ballistic Tips, so that would be my choice.
