Check on "Gunbroker.com". I'm sure they'll have quite a few for sale. It'll give you an idea what a rifle in similar condition would bring.
If it's in excellent condtion it's easily worth well over $1000
Are you sure it is a 300 win mag??
300 Winchester Magnum was designed in 1963. Very doubtful your gun is original or you have it dated incorrectly.
Ditto the 1963 date the 300 win mag was introduced. I misread the date he stated, so it sure isn't what he has if it's a 1955 rifle.
Doesn't mean it's an original barrel. The action is part of what made the pre-64's great (yeah yeah, quality of finish, wood, etc), so a rebarrel isn't something that would have been totally out of line over the last 65yrs.
Or then again, he might be full of crap... |
It could very well be a .300 H& H Magnum. They go back to 1937 in the Model 70, one of my employees has one so dated.
That may well be what it is because manufacturers do not like to stamp another manufacturers name on their stuff and they may have left off the H&H because it was a competitor of theirs. That could lead to a problem after the 300 win mag was introduced in 1963 if the OP doesn't really know what caliber he has.

the serial number is 348685 and the barrel is stamped 300 win mag. when i ran the serial number is stated it was manufactured in 1955. if you have different info please share. the gun blue book valued it at 3100 hundred on the high end.
