Tactical Stock for shotgun

I just ordered a Talon Tactical Stock by ATI for my Winchester 1300 short turkey. Since I can do nothing but wait on it to get her, thought I'd ask if any of you have tried one of these stocks on a shotgun?

Well, at least I haven't got a negative response yet. Just got a email that said my stock would be another 1-2 weeks out because of back order! Lol

Lil too late, no?

Might be a little late asking for advice after you've already bought it.

Tactical (AR style) stocks on shotguns have their nuances. I'm personally not a fan, but the adjustability is nice, and of course, they have that look that a lot of guys are looking for.

Expect that the recoil will be very different compared to the wood stock, hopefully the recoil pad on the end helps eat up the straight line kick. You should see a little less muzzle jump, but may not, depending upon your ability to soak up recoil.

Sight acquisition will suffer unless you're adding sights. Getting your cheek down over the shotgun is different now, as the comb is higher than it used to be.

But, all in all, I'm sure the Talon is a fine stock, I'm just not a huge fan of AR carbine stocks on shotguns in general.

Wasn't asking for advice, just opinions! Lol! It has synthetic stock now, and came factory with truglo on the rifled sights. Didn't think about the comb being higher though! Are you talking about adding a red dot scope or similar sights? Or in your opinion would the truglo sights be fine?

Only way to tell will be to try the stock on when it comes and see how comfortable you are getting down over the sights. If it has the sights on it already, the answer would be in the form of a question: how high or how low is your cheekweld when your eye is properly alligned with the sights? If you're already smashing your face down on the synthetic stock, then you might be hurting when you get the new stock if it is any higher at the comb. If you're lifting your face up at all, then you'll be better off with the new stock, and if you're really reaching, then you'll be looking at a huge benefit since your new stock looks to have an adjustable cheekpiece.

Guys take proper cheekweld for granted, if I feel like I have to raise my face off the stock at all, then I add a cheekpiece. Really makes a difference.

Thanks very much for the info!
