Best bolt action for the price?

I just moved to Northern Florida (Ocala) and have started to deer hunt more and more. I know seasons coming to a end but I want to start getting prepared for next year as far as my rifle. Currently I'm using a hammy down Remington 30-06 pump action my gramps gave to me. It's really old school and I think its time to get a new one. I'm looking for something reliable, strong, distance shooting and something that wont break the bank. Either a .270 , .243 , or another 30-06 would be good but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Ryan

i think the marlin xl7 or xs7. They are good priced, light, and have a nice, crisp trigger. I could cover my groups at 100 yards with a quarter. Mine is chambered for .270

Guess you should define "break the bank"? I personally like the new FN made Winchester M70's. On the lower side of the $$$ scale, the Ruger American seems to be getting good reviews.

Savage, Ruger American, or Win Model 70

Remington 700

For the money I would say either a Savage 14 or 114 (depending on action length) or Tikka T3.

If you asked my best friend, he'd say a Remington .30-06 pump - he's killed over 200 with his and you couldn't get him to use a different gun. :D

Personally I like Remington 700 bolt actions, but they are certainly not on the cheap side.

Ruger American

Ruger American or the Marlin. I looked at a new Win. Featherweight the other day, it is a beatiful gun but I noticed the barrel channel fit was horrible. One side of the barrel had a huge gap, the other side was touching the barrel. I was not impressed to say the least. Horrible fit and finnish, they had two, both were the same. Too much $ and poor qaulity control. For the price you can buy two Rugers and scopes and be better off, with money left for ammo.

Before I would even concider a Win model 70, I would buy the much nicer Kimber 84 classic, which is the best gun for the money in my book.
