add cabelas to the list disgusting

I'm totally disgusted right now, I ordered 1200 rounds of .223. Ammo over the phone with cabelas. The order went through fine, and then I look on the site today and notice all the bulk rifle ammo is gone. I called them up to find out they cancelled my order and they told me they just found out today that they will not be selling so called assault weapon ammo over the internet. You will never get my business again. And I'm a long time customer

I'm not sure why anybody is surprised by these stores doing such things. Piss a few people off now to save face and they may leave mad, but you'll go back.

tj_cubin 12-21-2012 04:49 AM

Assault weapon ammo?!? Huh, looks just like the same .223 ammo that bolt actions use!

WV Hunter 12-21-2012 05:38 AM

That is disappointing.

It's happening everywhere. A buddy of mine ordered a large amount of 223 earlier this week from Max Prarie Wings in AR, it was sold as in stock, he paid via online and was given a ship date. Then the next day he was notified "no dice", refunded and given no other info.

Folks TOTALLY over-reacting on this ammo crap, especially for a pissant 223. But with the prices this crap is bringing I can see why EVERY dealer (large AND small) are pulling their sales and saving their bulk orders to bust up and sell for more money at higher price (per piece). It's called the free market and they had no idea 10 days ago anything like Newtown would happen and everyone would start acting like morons over ARs and ammo! Don't blame the gunmakers, dealers. Blame the pinkolibs for their chest pumping and the "skeert public" for reacting like children! :rolleye0011:

they are punishing the wrong person.

BINGO.

Not after an order has been placed, then it's called a breach of contract, but they know that probably people will moan, but no one will actually do anything about it.

Why not blame the dealers for breaking a deal they had already made so they can profiteer on a tragedy?

Champlain Islander 12-23-2012 01:16 PM

Supply and demand. 2 months from now when almost no ammo is available they will get a huge profit when they let some trickle out. If you think that is bad wait until you want a gun.

That's why I reload. I have a couple thousand cases and a few cartons of primers. I buy bullets and powder and stock up. Load a couple hundred at a time as a hobby.

pnut 12-24-2012 06:09 AM

This is exactly why people should reload. I can't even remember when I last bought ammo for any of my guns.

Champlain Islander 12-24-2012 06:22 AM

Good point but the prices will rise for you guys who re-load too. Having a big stock to fall back on helps that out but sooner or later you will have to get more supplies. I noticed that quite a few places on line are now out of .223 ammo.

pnut 12-24-2012 06:48 AM

The only thing I will have money in is the bullets then.
My current stockpile for .223 alone is 4000 pieces of brass, enough kegs to do about 10k rnds, about 12k primers and currently about 500 bullets.
I have enough supplies to do about 5k rnds of .40 s&w, 1k of .380acp and about 1k rnds of 7mm Mag.
I don't think I'm going to run dry anytime soon.
I live about 30min from Midway and about 40min from Graffs.

I have primers that were purchased during the Clinton Administration. Bullets that are older than my kids. Probably 1000 lbs.of brass and a bit of powder. Keep the stock up and buy right and never have to worry about it. Some call it hoarding, I call it thrifty.

I like that one! Unfortunately I just started reloading about 6 months ago. It was my gift to myself after graduating college. I don't have anything stocked up yet. But I keep adding little by little.

I dunno about that...I stopped at Cabelas day before yesterday and while they did have signs up saying "Maximum of 10 boxes of same cal/same brand" in the ammo section I was still able to purchase 3 cases of 1000 rounds each of 3 different brands of .223 (3k rounds total)....but the shelves were getting bare...in the hour or so I hung out in the guns section I saw a pile of AR's go out the door and I heard one of the sales guys say he had sold 15 AR's that day alone (and there must have been 20 sales guys in the firearms section...so you do the math)...the line at the gun counter was insane...so doesn't sound like they were "pulling" any of their gear at this store (which was in PA).
